Advice

If I was hired by Baruch College to improve the college, changes I would make through new media is to increase the impressions on their existing platforms. As a senior at Baruch, I have probably only seen their Instagram or Facebook page maybe once or twice because it is not somewhere I would go to look for information about the school. If Baruch posted content around topics like "Life at Baruch" or "Life as a Professor," I think it would get more engagement because current students, new students, and transfers want to know what an everyday schedule is like at Baruch and more about the people who teach our classes. People enjoy when big institutions connect with them on a personal level because it shows that they are willing to be transparent and authentic. I would also make Baruch's website more updated, modern, and simple because, at first glance, it is very wordy and can be confusing to use as an outsider. Most students at Baruch use it mostly for the school calendar, but not much more since it is mostly used for information. It would be much more interactive if students could use that website to put in their pictures from their time at Baruch, or if there was a place for students to leave feedback about the school.

  1. As a fellow senior at Baruch, this sounds like a fantastic idea. Being that Baruch is a commuter school it would be fascinating to learn what other students and professors do on their free time. I believe this will be a great gateway into making connections with people at Baruch with similar interests!
